Community Links
St Luke’s serves the whole community in our parish. And therefore, we have strong community links which gives us a wonderful opportunity to witness Jesus to share his love and light to all.
Mahabah
Mahabba means ‘Love’ in Arabic and a Christian ‘Mahabba’ prayer group, convenes presently twice a week, each time to pray for our Muslim friendships, that these would feel the love and healing of Christ in their lives. Our praying is always grounded in scripture and new challenges present themselves each time we meet. Anyone wishing to know more should speak to Peter Jackson our vision champion.
School link
We have recently developed a loving and friendly link with Reedley Primary School. We hope our friendship will continue to grow in the future.
Brierfield Churches Together & Burnley Churches Together
Our church works closely with the Methodist and Baptist churches in Brierfield and Burnley to take the love of Christ out into the community through various services all round each year.
Building Bridges
Our church has had a strong connection with Building Bridges in Nelson for many years. The aim is to bring together people of different ethnicities, religions, and cultures in order to understand each other better, and forge long term fruitful friendship.
Christians Against Poverty (CAP)
CAP is a Christian charity helping and giving free debt counselling to those who are weighed down by debt in our communities. CAP has recently started work in the Pendle deanery and is working closely with St Luke’s. If you know someone who is struggling in debt, you can contact us for details to help.
